Gypsy Bytes was established in 1999 by Melody Kerchhoff, who has been in the IT industry since 1988 with Nedcor Investment Bank. Before that she was a primary school teacher, teaching mainly Xhosa. She holds a B.Comm (Hons) degree in Information Technology from UCT as well as an HDE (Higher Diploma in Education) from the Port Elizabeth Teacher's College. She is currrently active in Toastmasters and is a CTM (Competent Toastmaster). She dabbles in art, creative writing and photography and is learning to play the piano.

Gypsy Bytes prides itself on meeting each client's unique requirements and wherever possible, services are provided within each client's budget. Clients range from large to small, but are mostly small to medium businesses.
